Daniel Carr, age 15, is the author and illustrator of Slime for a Dragon. This delightful book was chosen by a panel of renowned children's book authors and illustrators as the winner of the 2006 National David Melton Memorial Written & Illustrated By... Contest for Students.
Daniel is homeschooled and devotes much of his time towards becoming an accomplished writer and artist. His work was published online as the grand prize winner of the Write the Book About Mrs. Butterworth's Contest and the Children's International Arts Festival. Additionally, Daniel's work has won numerous awards including the P.A. Witty National Literature Award for Poetry, the National Women's Club Youth Award for Poetry, three Florida State Writing and Illustration Awards, and a national art/essay award sponsored by Crayola. Daniel's design for Dixie’s "Krazy Kritters" plates is sold worldwide.
Daniel has designed posters and produced videos for several state and federal agencies to raise awareness on many topics. His public service announcement about rip currents is currently airing on broadcast TV and radio stations throughout Florida. Daniel loves sharing his stories with live audiences and has performed as a storyteller at the local, state and national level. He also has produced several cooking videos, one of which earned him a trip to Le Cordon Bleu's College of Culinary Arts in Hollywood, California, where he was invited to cook one of his original recipes.
